Skip the expensive pre-workout. Start with fruit.

Before you spend on a tub of pre-workout, try the simplest option in your kitchen: fruit. A banana, dates or an apple give your body the natural carbohydrates it needs for energy, better performance and stronger workouts.

Why fruit works

  • Quick, natural carbs — fuel your muscles use during training.
  • Easy to digest when eaten a little before a session.
  • Cheap and available everywhere — no tub, no scoop.
  • Comes with fibre, vitamins and minerals instead of artificial extras.

Good pre-workout options

  • Banana — the classic, easy on the stomach.
  • Dates — energy-dense, great for early sessions.
  • Apple — lighter, with extra fibre.
  • Pair it with a little protein, such as yoghurt, if your session is longer.

When to eat it

Most people do well eating fruit about 30–60 minutes before training. Try different timings and see what feels best for you.

Simple. Affordable. Effective. What is your favourite pre-workout fruit?
